My Story
I’m excited you’re here and I hope hearing my story will help you feel more comfortable sharing yours.
When I first started my career as a counselor (turned coach!) I was drawn to the challenges people face integrating their work and personal lives. I specialized in the intersection of career and mental health counseling and found it exciting to explore the ways in which these challenges are connected! I often find it takes place during times of transition such as graduation from school, moving to a new area, changes in family relationships, or loss of a job position. For me, this happened after I completed my doctoral program. I was standing with my diploma in my hand with a dream job waiting for me. I looked around at all there was to celebrate and found myself wondering if this is what I strived for and have accomplished it, then why do I not feel connected, satisfied, and excited?
As someone who has fallen into the trap of going all in at work (and loved it!), I understand how hard it can be when you take a step back and realize you want more from your life. For me this looked like leaning all into a new challenge whether that was a doctoral program, a new teaching role, or a new creative project as a helper. I love feeling challenged at work, and I love pouring my energy into that area of my life. But over time I realized that while that is rewarding, it can also leave you feeling disconnected from all the other parts that make up your identity. For me, this looked like burnout, and a lack of awareness of who I was beyond my job title. For my clients it also looked like feeling physically exhausted, resentful, disconnected, or stuck. Everyone is unique, and so you might feel some of these things, or you might have other challenges blocking your path.
I’m here to tell you that you aren’t alone. I’d love to help you identify the areas where you need help, and address the roadblocks that are getting in your way of achieving the life you want. I understand our lives are complicated and involve a variety of roles, responsibilities, and stressors that can make this seem like a daunting task. I get it! Once you realize you need a change it can be scary to think about what changes you need to happen.
For me this involved a close look at my values, interests, and identity outside of who I was at work or who I was to those around me. I fell into the trap of identifying myself in relation to my role to others. This is a easy to trap to fall into for helpers, and also for women as we are socialized to be caretakers and givers! After doing my own identity work and addressing burnout I began to see the places I could enjoy directing my energy.
I spent time reconnecting with community, experimenting with new hobbies, and taking a closer look at my wellness from a holistic space. I created a more sustainable relationship with my career and found myself feeling joy across the different areas of my life in a way I hadn’t experienced before.
On the other side of this process I can tell you I am a coach and a helper. But I am also an outdoor enthusiast, someone who loves ALL things desserts, a group fitness instructor, a person who craves uninterrupted alone time, a volunteer at a dog rescue organization, a travel junkie, and someone who is energized by all the variety and adventure that our life has to offer. Is everyday a 10 out of 10? Of course not! Do I still have areas of my life that need growth and attention? Absolutely! But now I know who I am, what I enjoy, and things I can do to help me feel more connected to myself and what I value.
I’d love to be a part of your journey in connecting with who you are as a person, leaving burnout behind, identifying a career path that energizes you, and creating a life that provides a bit more balance between what you do and who you are!

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, have earned a Doctorate of Philosophy in Counseling and Counselor Education, and have trained practicing counselors. I love being informed by mental health practices, and have enjoyed the insights this has given. However, when I worked as a mental health counselor I spent a lot of time labeling, diagnosing and justifying career and wellness work within the healthcare system. In that role my goal was to help people reach a foundational level of wellness and functioning. This often did not allow for me to support clients in taking the next steps in their journey.
Now I work with people through the role of a coach. Coaching allows me to work with people who have achieved a foundational level of mental health wellness and want to work on actionable steps to achieve their career and life goals.
I often hear from my clients that counseling is abstract and unstructured. and coaching seems a bit generic and one-size fits all. I like to think of myself as finding a middle place between these two.
Mental health informed coaching for your career and identity needs.
I enjoy staying informed on evidence based practice as it relates to career related counseling efforts and burnout and use research to drive my work.
If you decide to work with me we will not use diagnoses, and I will not be functioning as a mental health provider. This is something we will discuss during our first meeting together. If at any point we determine that you need mental health counseling I will direct you to those services.

Commitment
In helping spaces, it is essential to both value, and take action to support, the diverse identities that people hold. My commitment to to you is to provide support from an individualized perspective that honors and incorporates your identities and the many ways they intersect. While I specialize in working with people who identify as female, I know that what that means to you is going to be different than what that has meant in my own life story. I want you to know that I will structure our work with that at the forefront starting with our first consult call and will continue as we set goals, and take action to make changes in your life.
I know I will not always get it right, but I am committed to doing right in my practice. That means learning from my own mistakes on an individual level, as well as acting as an advocate in our community. My promise to you is that I will continue learn and grow as a person who resides in a white cisgender female body and take individual responsibility for my own growth process. I look forward to celebrating all parts of you and working together to ensure we are collaborating to create and achieve goals that will enhance your life.
